Dorothy has been the "busy bee" making many soaps while I was on vacation, and working. We are preparing for summer events, and looking forward to them in July and August. We have been busy developing some new soaps with our new gorgeous soap molds!! I am now creating a "Garden Soap" that will have the fragrance of tomato leaves and dirt!! Are you intrigued? Other new ones....a grapefruit and lily, Turkish Mocha, and an owl with the fragrance of Apple, Balsam, & Pine... I've been experimenting with a new soap base that is Black African Soap that is very healing to the skin...it is in the Turkish Mocha and Owl soaps.... Over a year ago, Dorothy and I joined the Three Rivers Artist Guild (TRAG), in Oregon City. We have enjoyed meeting other artists/craftsmen in the area, and learning more about being more professional in our businesses. One of those lessons was in how to prepare our photography for being in a gallery!! It has been a great experience, and we wanted to let you know of our first summer event!! TRAG has an art gallery in the Singer Hill Cafe (on Molallah Ave), in Oregon City, and we will be displaying our arts/crafts - we have put together a tray of gift soaps, photo cards, photo prints, and framed and matted photography!! The Art Gallery is open Tuesday - Sunday (closed Monday's) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you are in the city, stop in and see how much talent is on display, and for sale!! The have great one-of-a-kind gifts!! Come check it out!!!

I have been very neglectful of my "Artisan Herb" web page since December... It is amazing how fast the months fly by and you wonder "what the heck have I been up to?" January is the month that one collapses from all the planning and selling involved in a small business. For me it has been festivals and bazaars from July until mid-December. Factor in working two part-time jobs, and going to community college part-time has been wonderful AND exhausting. My yard and house show my neglect... Going back to school began Spring term 2015...I will have completed five terms with this last term ending mid-June. (I plan to take the summer off and start back in late September.) This going back to school is "business"....to date I have done three Math classes, two Computer classes, two Law classes, one Marketing class, one Intro to Business class, and five Horticulture classes (my favorite)!! By my calculations I should be finished by the end of 2017....and will have earned FIVE CERTIFICATES!!! Also a school debt!! School goals have been to attain better computer skills, more knowledge about business (financial & legal), and figure out how to market on social media...that hasn't been met yet!! Just enrolling for school, arranging financial aid, attending class, doing assignments, and figuring out "Moodle" where you upload many of your assignment is daunting for someone close to 60!!! I feel much smarter and confident most days...hahaha!!! Dorothy Sherman and I will be at three events this summer.... If all goes as planned we will be at George Fox College (NWYM of Friends Yearly Meeting) and at the Newberg Old Fashioned Festival to sell soaps, bath salts, cards, prints, etc. the last week of July!! August 13&14 we will be at The Oregon City Festival of the Arts... will post info the closer it gets!! My favorite part of Artisan Herbs is creating new soaps...and the new soap molds, fragrances, essential oils, and herb combinations are awesome! One creation is a lovely pink-peach soap with a grapefruit and lily fragrance - the mold is a "secret"!! Tomorrow is a new creation with some "African Black Soap". The fragrance is very "Mediterranean/North African".... The mold is very much Africa.... Plans are in the works to make this "page" more interesting... If you have ideas, I would welcome hearing from you!!
