Yale’s Vinland Map, widely considered a modern forgery, is undergoing new scientific analysis at the Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage. This excellent article by Yale University's Mike Cummings describes the work undertaken by colleagues from the IPCH, Yale University Library and Juniata College to better understand the map's material composition before it goes on view at “The Vikings Begin” exhibition at Mystic Seaport, May 19 through Sept. 30.
