painter of vivid architectural scenes from travels and other adventures... From the ‘Red Stick’ of Southern Louisiana, painter and designer Nealy Orillion has long been influenced by the built environment around her. After studying architecture at Louisiana State University and a year of professional practice, her passion for travel led her on a year long sabbatical traveling around Europe and working for a Dutch family in the Flemish region of Belgium. During this time, Nealy discovered her artist identity. Specializing in both acrylic and watercolor media, her works are influenced by her love for the architectural world using texture, light, and color to capture the mood and expression of each place she experiences. These place-based series are euphoric moments captured in real time through photographs and then revived to canvas. Whether the subjects are painted during a morning sunrise or at dusk in the winter rain, She paints the permanence of the built environment contrasted against the dynamic elements in nature.
Nealy has since retuned to her roots in New Orleans, Louisiana where the city is vibrant and the art community is rich. She has been featured as Café Luna’s Artist of the Month in late 2013 and is soon to be featured in the Artist as Entrepreneur Program’s artist showcase in January of 2014 sponsored by the Arts Council of New Orleans. Nealy has been commissioned for many works varying from architectural scenes to family and pet portraits. All customized commissions are currently being accepted.
