The New London Fire Department is a combination department employing a full time Fire Chief, a full time Firefighter and 45 Call Members. The New London Fire Department is a combination department employing a full time Fire Chief, a full time Firefighter and 45 Call Members. The town of New London is roughly 26 square miles with 4,400 full time residents. Being a lake and a college community, the population fluctuates constantly throughout the year. The NLFD responds to 600-800 emergency and non-emergency calls per year and works very closely within the Kearsarge Mutual Aid Compact.

The NLFD is assisting Wilmot FD with a chimney fire on Village Road. Firefighter Bartlett and Peltier extinguish the fire by dropping a chain ball down the flue. We recommend that if you burn a lot of wood, having your chimney cleaned multiple times during the heating season might be needed

Black Friday had a different meaning for this young driver, who was not injured, as he almost crashed into Pleasant Lake. Bunker Road was closed for a couple of hours as NLFD personal stabilized the vehicle, and stood by until the car was removed to ensure there were no fluids leaking into the lake.

This afternoon, the New London Fire Department responded mutual aid to Springfield Power for a reported fire in the building. Fire departments from as far as Hanover responded to the scene to assist. The fire was located in a hard to reach location and our Ladder Truck was used as a stand pipe to pump water closer to the fire.

At approximately 2:24pm this afternoon New London Fire, New London Police, New London Ambulance and NH State Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 89 near exit 12. Calls from the scene reported the male driver of the vehicle was still inside the car and had a head injury. New London Fire arrived on scene and removed the windshield and roof of the car to allow the driver to exit. The driver was transported to New London Hospital via ambulance.

The open house runs from 10am-1pm and then watch for our fire trucks in the parade at 2pm!
