Update as of 7AM on Thursday, March 22nd. The snow emergency will be lifted as of 8AM. For those parked in emergency lots, please remove your vehicles by 6PM this evening.
Update of the snow storm as of Wednesday, March 21st at 3PM. Due to the forecasted snowstorm, the City of Malden will declare a snow emergency as of 6PM tonight. After the snow emergency begins at 6PM, winter parking restrictions will be strictly enforced. Please listen carefully for details about the emergency parking ban and to the end of this message for details about other city services affected by the storm. Regarding parking restrictions: To avoid being ticketed or towed, please find out what the parking restrictions are at your specific address, by visiting cityofmalden.org/streetalerts. For residents on streets with a parking ban who are without access to off-street parking, the following locations are available to park free of charge and these lots are available as of 6PM tonight. The locations are the Early Learning Center, Beebe, Forestdale, Ferryway, Linden and Salemwood Schools. Vehicles can remain in these lots until further notice but you must monitor 311 to find out when to remove your vehicle from these lots. *Please note the CBD Garage downtown will NOT be available to park in during this storm. Regarding other city services: Malden Public Schools are canceled for Thursday, March 22nd Trash and Recycling will be collected as normal and all City buildings will be open during normal business hours. Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charles D. Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, March 17, 2018, the day of interment, in honor of Specialist Michael J. Grella, Joint Force Base Langley - Ft. Eustis, VA; of Gloucester, Massachusetts who died on Friday, March 9, 2018.

Update as of Tuesday, March 13th at 6PM: As of tomorrow, Wednesday, March 14th at 6AM the snow emergency will be lifted. Those parked in emergency lots must remove vehicles by 8AM or risk being towed. After the snow emergency has been lifted at 6AM tomorrow, residents can return to normal winter parking rules. Trash and recycling will resume tomorrow and will be delayed one day for the rest of the week, collection Wednesday-Saturday. Malden City Hall, Senior Center and Library will delay opening until 10AM, and Malden Public Schools and the Teen Center will be closed tomorrow. For more information, visit www.cityofmalden.org/snow

For residents on streets with a parking ban who are without access to off-street parking, the following locations are available to park free of charge and these lots are available as of 6PM tonight. The locations are the Early Learning Center, Beebe, Forestdale, Ferryway, Linden and Salemwood Schools as well as downtown at the CBD Garage. Vehicles can remain in the school lots until further notice but you must monitor 311 to find out when to remove your vehicle from these lots. Those in the CBD Parking Garage must remove your vehicle by 7AM on Wednesday, March 14th to accommodate monthly parkers who need to make use of the garage on Wednesday. Regarding other City services: -Trash pickup for Tuesday, March 13th will be canceled and resume on Wednesday. -Malden Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, March 13th and Wednesday, March 14th. -Malden City Hall, Malden Public Library, Senior Center and Teen Center will all be closed Tuesday, March 13th. -Malden Recreation activities will be canceled for Tuesday. Regarding Shoveling: We appreciate resident’s efforts in complying with our snow removal ordinance however, we do want you to be aware that during snow removal operations, plows will likely be throwing snow onto sidewalks. To avoid having to shovel multiple times, please wait until the end of snow removal operations to begin your shoveling.
