Day 3 of the Wisconsin Idea Seminar - Do you see the drawing of Lake Superior and the rest of the Great Lakes? Look again. Do you see the drawing of the eagle in flight, holding fish in her talons to feed her babies? The power of the visual to reframe the familiar and give us a “new view” of our world. Thank you to leaders and members of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians for sharing a part of your world and your stories with us. #chazendirectorontheroad

Day 2 - We have been meeting with people over the last two days who are thoughtfully grappling with some of the most difficult issues facing our communities today. Yesterday there was a panel on water in the central basin that included UW rep, 2 farmers from the region, dept of natural resources, and wetlands. Today (pictured here) in Abbotsford talking with school staff and students about how the areas changing and increasingly diverse community has created challenges and opportunities. I am heartened by the dialogue. And struck by how important it is to create spaces for honest and nuanced conversations about complex and difficult issues. The museum can be such a space. Through engagement with artists, through exhibitions, permanent collection installation, and public programs. Inspired! #chazendirectorontheroad
