At Q, you and your group will escape from everyday reality and enter into a themed environment that will test your cunning, creativity and cooperation as you race against time to escape from the room...before it's too late.

Imagine a movie in which, at the crucial moment, you and your family/friends/coworkers assume the characters of the actors.  You work together to solve a mystery or complete a top secret mission or simply escape from the bad guys.  Will it end in triumphant victory?  Or a bitter and terrifying defeat?  Time will tell... but only 60 minutes so cooperation is key!

At Q: The Live Escape Experience, we want to share with you some of the inspiration for Area Q, our most popular game. Kris, an avid gamer, wanted to create an escape game that played like a video game in which the players become the characters instead of controlling them remotely. Thus, we needed to design a game that went beyond simply solving puzzles. In Area Q, you and your group become an elite special ops team hired to break into a heavily secured underground research facility. While there are security puzzles to be solved, what takes Area Q to an adrenaline level of 10, is the security guard. This isn't suspended disbelief, our guard is real and actually makes rounds throughout the adventure to make sure the facility is secure. You have to hide or act or you will be caught. For real. This element is what makes Area Q one of the most heart-pounding games on the front range. Here we present some of the inspiration and design of The Witching Hour, the newest escape room at Q: The Live Escape Experience. Like The Path of the Gods, and The Asylum, The Witching Hour is inspired by actual historic events. We spent several months studying the Salem witch trials and the belief system that led to fear-inspired witch hunts. During the 17th century and earlier, people believed in magic and witches, both of which usually came from an allegiance with the devil. In this experience, the challenge was not only to build out a space that transports the player to the late 1600's, but also to incorporate magic into the experience by hiding modern-day technology in 17th century design to create the illusion of magic. Through our most extensive build-out yet, you and your group will be transported back in time to save your town from a horrible curse. At Q: The Live Escape Experience, people often ask us, "How do you come up with your game designs?" Jolie Beth had a creative writing teacher who said, "Creativity and brilliance emerge when you have to make something within the confines of a structure." So when we decided to design an Egyptian tomb expedition, we started with research and questions to create the structure. In what era of "ancient Egypt" did our king rule? What were the religious beliefs and practices at that time? What was day to day life like? How might people in that time and place design puzzles and traps to protect a king and his treasure he would need for the afterlife? What materials were available to them? There certainly wouldn't be traditional locks from the Home Depot. There would not have been English. Within this structure we created a room as close to an Egyptian tomb as we could make it without taking you to Egypt. We loved the challenge and it was worth the effort! Check out some pictures from the room and if you haven't played the Path of the Gods, book your adventure at www.escapefromq.com
