Daybreak Curly-Coated Retrievers
Description
Daybreak Kennels are breeders of versatile Curly-Coated Retrievers who have earned titles in field, obedience, rally, fly-ball, agility, and conformation. Above all we strive to produce healthy puppies that become valued family members. Daybreak only breeds an occasional litter. No litters are planned until at least 2018. We may have puppies available in the summer of 2015 from a litter whelped by another breeder by one of our dogs. Check back for more details. Daybreak no longer maintains a website - all new information will be posted here.

Today we said goodbye to Penny a/k/a Ch Daybreak Penny Lane CD. At just shy of 15, she was the last dog from our first litter. Penny was laid to rest next to her littermate Rigby, who passed last fall, under an oak tree in the pasture.

Happy belated 11th birthday to River a/k/a Daybreak Many Rivers to Cross (June 3rd) and early 2nd birthday to her granddaughter Shandy a/k/a Brio at Daybreak Once in a Blue Moon (June 9th). I also inadvertently missed Mattie's a/k/a Daybreak All That Matters 13th birthday on May 27th.

Shandy, our 5th generation, is spending her winter with trainer Molly Boland getting ready to run Senior Hunter tests this summer. To quote Molly, "She's got more game than some of the labs I have on the truck"... She'll be two years old in June.

I had to work today so I brought Mattie to the office. She was so interested in this blanket and I couldn't figure out why. Then it dawned on me that the last dog to use it was her sister Rigby. I guess the other dogs miss her as well.

It was a beautiful day for a long hike in the woods. Saw lots of deer but we didn't find any sheds. Almost 13 Mattie is sleeping hard tonight but Breeze is fired up to go again.

Bittersweet... We got this wood duck mount back today from taxidermist. It's from Rigby last duck hunt in 2015. We lost her to bone cancer the third week of the duck season 2016 at the age of 14-1/2. Both good and sad memories
Master Hunter Gauge, sire of our last litter, getting it done on a nice Canada Goose. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10155258744334123&id=773194122&from_close_friend=1

I was listening to a little Bob Marley on the way home tonight when Jammin' came on I thought of this guy. Oscar was a heck of a dog, maybe the nicest we ever bred, but his health issues took him way too early...
