The Orton Family Foundation devoted more than a decade working with small cities and towns to create a community development model that empowers residents to shape the future of their communities. That model is Community Heart & Soul® and its impact has been transformational. By coming together and determining what matters most to everyone, communities have seen economic development take hold, collaboration occur across longstanding divides, and renewed pride of place. Orton Executive Director David Leckey will highlight success stories and give an overview of the model that builds trust while taking into account the unique character of a town and the deep emotional connection of the people who live there—a town’s “Heart & Soul®.” Patricia Hart, an economist and four-term city councilor in Gardiner, Maine, will share how Community Heart & Soul helped spark transformation with renewed economic development and a new way of doing business guided by what matters most to residents. All Clinton School Speaker Series events are free and open to the public. Reserve your seats by emailing publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu or by calling (501) 683-5239.
