Join us on the evening of January 31 as Dr. Irene Butter tells of her experiences during the Holocaust and her work for social justice. Dr. Butter was born in Berlin, Germany, and grew up as a Jewish child in Nazi-occupied Europe. She survived two concentration camps, including Bergen-Belsen, where she met Anne Frank. She came to the United States in 1945 and is a Professor Emerita of Public Health at the University of Michigan, where she co-founded the Raoul Wallenberg Medal & Lecture series. Dr. Butter is also a co-founder of Zeitouna, an Arab-Jewish women’s dialogue group in Ann Arbor, and her memoir, Shores Beyond Shores, from Holocaust to Hope, has recently been published. This program is FREE and open to the public, but reservations are required.

Visit the Clinton Center & see our two current temporary exhibits that celebrate the rich history of Africa. “Mandela: The Journey to Ubuntu” honors the life & legacy of former South African President Nelson Mandela, & “Art of Africa” explores the colors, shapes, and textures of Africa.
When you visit the Clinton Center, be sure you plan to have lunch at 42 bar and table (open for lunch Monday - Saturday, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., and for dinner Thursday - Saturday 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.) and shop at the Clinton Museum Store!

The Clinton Center is open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m today. Come tour our permanent exhibit collection and our two temporary exhibits, “Mandela: The Journey to Ubuntu” and “Art of Africa: One Continent, Limitless Vision.”
