The Village of Lincolnwood is a municipality with a population of 12,590 and covers 2.69 square miles in the north suburban area of Chicago, Illinois. The Village provides services to its residents in the form of Police, Fire, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Planning, Zoning, Building Inspections, Code Enforcement, and Economic Development. The Village employs 88 full time, 10 part time, and 200 seasonal employees.

Beginning on Wednesday, May 17 a portion of Central Park Avenue, near the former Union Pacific right-of-way will be closed to accommodate the installation of a new sewer pipe. The sewer is being installed as part of the ongoing construction of a public parking lot that will accommodate users of the new recreation path as well as businesses in the Northeast Industrial District. The road closure will occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.; the roadway will be open to traffic during the evening hours. The work requiring the closure is expected to last 2-3 days. Access to local business on Central Park Avenue will be maintained via Northeast Parkway. The map depicts the location of the closure and a suggested detour. Lincolnwood Memorial Day Parade and Kids Bike Parade
New to the parade this year, children ages eight and under are invited to participate in the first annual bike parade for kids 8 and under with bikes, trikes, wagons or scooters decorated with a patriotic theme. All children riding in the parade must be accompanied by an adult participant, 18 years or older, and riders must wear a bike helmet. www.lincolnwoodil.org/memorial-day-parade-ceremony

Lincolnwood Summer Concert Series
The 2017 Lincolnwood Thursday Night Summer Concert Series is a perfect way to enjoy warm summer nights in beautiful Proesel Park. Thursday evenings in June and July feature live music, free children’s activities, and bingo with great prizes! The concerts are located near the big tent in Proesel Park (7055 Kostner Ave.) in front of the Proesel Park Family Aquatic Center, where ample parking is available. Play Pickleball in Proesel Park Tennis Courts The east tennis court in Proesel Park has been marked for pickleball play. Pickleball combines the elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis, and is played with a whiffle ball and paddle. Pickleball can be played as singles or doubles, is easy to learn, and can be played by all ages and is particularly popular in schools and with older active adults. If you’d like to play but are not ready to invest in a paddle, Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation offers three-day paddle set rentals for a rental fee of $5, available for rental in their office. Most classes start in early June & are geared for all fitness levels, including our new BOXING CLASS. Many of our classes also allow you to pay the drop-in rate to try one out.

On May 3, 2017 the Lincolnwood Police Department was advised of a fake news story circulating on the internet about a reported shooting at the Lincolnwood Town Center. Several phone call inquiries have been received from concerned community members. No such incident has occurred and the police department is making a concerted effort to reassure the public that this is a spurious report with no factual basis. Social media outlets are being contacted to have any and all such incorrect posts removed immediately. Please do not hesitate to call the police or 9-1-1 regarding any other fake news stories involving the police department that might be generated in the future.
