The Lincoln Police Department was recognized by MADD Nebraska for helping to combat drunk and drugged driving in Lincoln. Great work by so many LPD officers! We learned that Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Officer Sara Genoways was the first female in Nebraska to receive the MADD Outstanding DRE award in 2017. Officer Genoways was again honored in 2018 for her expertise and hard work keeping Lincoln safe! Brett from Channel 8 KLKN TV spoke to Officer Genoways and will talk more about this tonight at 10pm!

The Lincoln Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer until June 8th! We told Officer Bonkiewicz he had to do a hiring Q&A but he was surprised to learn we decided to include ALL questions we received on social media. Stay tuned for more, it gets worse! But we did learn a PTSD diagnosis is NOT an automatic disqualification. #LNK #NowHiring #JoinLPD @JoinLPD.com

B8-045707 TERRORISTIC THREATS – On May 24, 2018, at 7:22 pm, officers responded to reports of gunfire at 2282 Y Street. One of the victims reported he was standing on the porch when a sedan stopped in front of the residence. Three men stepped out of the car and threatened to shoot the victim. The other residents came outside and the victim reported the men started shooting handguns at them. The victim identified one the men as their daughter’s boyfriend, 19-year-old Tyler Vercher. Officers located 14 shell casings in the street near the home. Vercher was located 10 minutes later in the parking lot of 1515 Superior Street. He was taken into custody and was in possession of two starter pistols. The starter pistol fires blanks that give the sound and appearance of being a real gun. Vercher was upset with the victim over a disagreement they had with his girlfriend. Vercher was arrested for 3 counts of terroristic threats. The investigation is ongoing to identify and locate the other people involved. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 402.441.6000 or Lincoln Crimestoppers 402.475.3600.
