A cold morning that warmed the hearts of the young and young at heart, as the St Thomas the Apostle St Vincent de Paul Society and our LifeTeen and Edge kids joined together in living out the Corporal Works of Mercy. Blessing Bags were distributed to some very needy, and very cold souls in the courtyard at KARM in Knoxvegas. Big shout out to Deacon Scott Maentz for his Bridge Ministry. Thank you to all the adults and kids who helped St Thomas give some help to “the least of My brethren “ #lifeteen

Wed Nite 130 St Thomas kids and 20 adult leaders took Christmas to heart at the Edge/LifeTeen Christmas Social. They decorated and ate cookies, cheated playing Reindeer Games, unwrapped packages with oven mitts, and had a sleigh full of social fun. But our Catholic faith teaches us about another aspect of the word social. Jesus said that whatever we do for the least, we do for him. We are charged to help the aged, visit and comfort the imprisoned, and give food, clothing, and shelter to those who have need. Our kids did all that as part of their “social”. They wrote scripture verses and personal messages of encouragement on bookmarks for prisoners in Morgan County, wrote Christmas cards for nursing home residents, and packed Blessing Bags full of cold weather clothes and food which were donated by our parishioners, to be distributed Saturday under the bridges in Knoxville to those homeless for Christmas. The people of St Thomas the Apostle should be proud of these kids who have learned the true meaning of Christmas. Just as God gave us His Son that night in Bethlehem, we understand the gift we have of giving to others, outweighs anything we may find under our tree.
