Frequently Asked Questions-
What is Yoga?
The word yoga originates from the Sanskrit word yuj, meaning to yoke or bind. To me, yoga provides an opportunity to unite the mind, body, and spirit. One way this can be accomplished is through mindfully and intentionally linking one’s breath with movement.
I’m not flexible-Can I do yoga?
Absolutely, yoga is for everyone and the “non-flexible” can achieve some of the greatest benefits. The postures and sequences in yoga work to lengthen and strengthen muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues. Through a regular practice, you will see improvements in range of motion, agility, balance, cardiovascular health, and coordination.
What are other health benefits of doing yoga?
Yoga has been proven to have a host of health benefits including: improving metabolism, preventing cartilage and joint breakdown, reducing blood pressure, increasing blood flow, regulating adrenal glands, increasing focus, improving sleep, fostering self-esteem and reducing stress-- and I could go on!
What do I need to begin?
A willing mind and comfortable clothing. No shoes required. If you have a mat, bring it. However, some will be available. Please, plan to arrive 10 minutes early to get signed in and settled.
