Leander Independent School District, located northwest of Austin in Williamson and Travis Counties, continues to be one of the fastest-growing school districts in the state, educating some 38,000 students at its 41 campuses in 2016–2017. LISD continues to be a district of choice for families moving to the area because it strives to meet the unique needs of every child, offers rigorous course options, is home to three International Baccalaureate schools and boasts state-winning athletic and fine arts programs. Strong leadership and phenomenal community engagement are central to the district’s success. More than 13,000 registered volunteers donate their time, talents, and expertise to LISD students each year. Governed by seven at-large members of the Board of Trustees and led by Superintendent Dan Troxell, Leander ISD is a district focused on ensuring that all students graduate with every option open.
