We loved seeing how excited our learners were on their first day of school. Our halls are bustling again, we hear learning and rekindled conversations and we couldn't be happier!

How 'Deprogramming' Kids From How to 'Do School' Could Improve Learning
Project-Based Learning, isn't always easier, but it is often more effective.... “I think many students didn’t realize that they could learn without a textbook or without step by step instruction,” Nunke wrote. “At times I felt that Mr. Holman’s physics class was the hardest class ever because I didn’t get a step-by-step instruction. We are used to being handed the answer, thus not necessarily learning, just being told.” https://ww2.kqed.org/mindshift/2014/12/15/how-deprogramming-kids-from-how-to-do-school-could-improve-learning/

🇺🇸♥️💙🎇🦅This coming Thursday, we'll observe Independence Day, commemorating the signing of our nation's Declaration of Independence nearly 250 years ago. However, it's far more than a day for firing up the grill, relaxing and enjoying a fireworks show at night — it's an opportunity. On this Fourth of July, we hope you'll consider some of these unique volunteer opportunities — or seek out ways to help people in your community. Volunteer Opportunities Consider sending encouragement to the many U.S. troops deployed around the globe, voluntarily serving our country, by writing a letter, sending a care package, or volunteering with Soldiers' Angels. In 2017 alone, Soldiers’ Angels provided over $17 million in aid to over 360,000 service members, veterans, wounded heroes, and military families. You can even easily send an encouraging message to deployed troops by visiting the USO website. To find other volunteer opportunities in your community, you can also check out justserve.org or greatnonprofits.org. Enjoy the holiday and thanks very much for your support!
