Welcome to First Baptist Church! Please stop by and see us... whether you're in town for a few days or new to Kinston! We're excited to know you and to know how we can help you to know Christ better. Whether you have worshipped with us on Sunday morning or you're just browsing our Facebook page, we want you to know that we love you and we want to help you know Jesus Christ better than ever! Our doors are always open to you! We want you to be saved by the BLOOD OF THE LAMB, as only HE can! No church can save you, but we can certainly help you on your journey to the throne of God, where your sins shall be washed away and your soul made clean.

If you want or need assistance in your walk with the Lord, please know that FBC is here for you as a church family and as prayer partners! We will pray for anything you need, just let us know!

Our ministers:
- Rev. Jon Hoover, Senior Pastor

Samson

Samson’s sin led to his own death, but God used his death to deliver Israel from the Philistines. Samson’s story reminds us of Jesus. Jesus never sinned, but His death on the cross rescues believers from sin. #GospelProjectKids #TomorrowsLesson #ChristConnection

ARISE, MY SOUL, ARISE! A Capella Hymn (Charles Wesley, LENOX)

Charles Wesley's Arise, My Soul, Arise is one of the finest examples of a solid, encouraging hymn. Wesley's deep knowledge of Scripture is on display and the themes of justification, faith, assurance, and deliverance from condemnation are just as helpful today as when he wrote it in 1742. A number of stories are told of how the singing of this hymn brought many to understand and embrace the Gospel. John Lawson, in his book The Wesley Hymns (Francis Asbury Press, 1987) lists numerous Scriptures beside each line of this hymn, showing that phrase after phrase, and truth upon truth are drawn from the Word of God. Central to the message of the hymn is the present high priestly ministry of Christ, seated at the Father’s right hand. If our faith is in Christ, there is no need for despair! This Sunday will be the third time this month that we sing Arise, My Soul, Arise at First Baptist Kinston. Be ready to sing all five stanzas! It’s possible to skip verses in some hymns, but here the impact builds throughout. You may have chills running down your spine by the time you get to, “With confidence I now dry nigh, and 'Father, Abba, Father!’ cry." Arise, my soul, arise, shake off thy guilty fears; the bleeding Sacrifice in my behalf appears: before the throne my Surety stands, before the throne my Surety stands, my name is written on his hands. He ever lives above, for me to intercede, His all-redeeming love, His precious blood to plead; His blood atoned for all our race, His blood atoned for all our race, and sprinkles now the throne of grace. Five bleeding wounds he bears, received on Calvary; they pour effectual prayers, they strongly plead for me. “Forgive him, oh, forgive,” they cry, “Forgive him, oh, forgive,” they cry, “nor let that ransomed sinner die!” The Father hears him pray, His dear anointed one; He cannot turn away The presence of his Son: His Spirit answers to the blood, And tells me I am born of God. I now am reconciled; His pard’ning voice I hear; He owns me for His child, I can no longer fear; with confidence I now draw nigh, with confidence I now draw nigh, and “Father, Abba, Father!” cry.

The great story about Gideon is not about what Gideon did; it’s about what God did. It was God who fought and won. Likewise, our salvation isn’t about what we do; it’s about what Jesus did. #GospelProjectKids #TomorrowsLesson #ChristConnection

This is a great little article. Meaningful church membership is more about one's commitment to Jesus than anything else!
