We are so excited to announce that the first ever Upper Keys Unite Against Marine Debris was a success! Despite fast winds, high seas, and unexpected rain, this Earth Day 62 marine stewards worked together to collect close to 200 pounds of marine debris, and raise $4000 for Project AWARE Foundation. This was a fantastic example of a collaborative effort, and we are so thankful to the community members and businesses that played a part in this event, and the corporations that supported us. Thank you to Ocean Divers, Pennekamp Dive Shop, South Beach Dive and Surf Center, Stream2Sea, Florida Keys Brewing Co, Aqualung, MARES - just add water, Dive Rite, Debris Free Oceans, and the ten charitable local businesses who made this event possible. It’s amazing what we can do when we work together. We look forward to see you all at the next one, May 19th! Stay tuned for the video soon to follow!
