The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Craighead County until 12:00 p.m. Saturday: Hazardous road conditions are expected to persist into the weekend. Arctic air will remain in place through the weekend. Any precipitation remaining on surfaces is expected to re-freeze and will cause hazardous road conditions into this weekend, especially on untreated surfaces. The City of Jonesboro will be under a winter weather advisory starting tonight at midnight until noon on Friday. Mixed precipitation is expected and the potential ice may result in difficult travel conditions on Friday. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving.

As the possibility of inclement weather approaches, the Jonesboro Street Department works hard to test and prepare road equipment.

The Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce just cut ribbon for the grand opening of Board & Brush located at 210 Cate Ave.

In celebration of Martin Luther King Day, the Sanitation Department will be off Monday, January 15th and will resume routes Tuesday, January 16th. Monday trash and yard waste routes will take place on Tuesday, January 16th, and all other routes will take place as normally scheduled. 3rd Monday recycling pickups will take place on Tuesday, January 16th, and all other recycling pickups are as normally scheduled. The incinerator will be closed on Monday, January 15th and will resume normally-scheduled hours (7a.m.-4p.m.) the rest of the week.

On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, the City of Jonesboro will hold a public hearing to review proposed land use plans.

Join us Wednesday, January 17th as we celebrate the Grand Opening of the Craighead Forest Park 3.2-mile multi-use trail. The celebration will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the roundabout entrance with a welcome from Parks and Recreation Director Wixson Huffstetler and acknowledgments by Mayor Harold Perrin. El Centro Hispano En Jonesboro is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Night on January 11, 2018 as A-State plays against Texas State University.
