Good afternoon Marines, sailors, and families of School of Infantry-East, It has been brought to the attention of the School that one or more independent, non-Marine Corps affiliated individuals or organizations have been soliciting donations of funds, foodstuffs, or services on behalf of the Marine Corps - or taking financial advantage of Marines as they report for training by offering unregistered transportation from airports or bus stations to the School. The School wants to remind all families, students, and permanent personnel that the School does not endorse, recognize, or support the solicitation of funds, foodstuffs, or services by any independent party on the behalf of Marines attached or assigned to the School or the greater Camp Lejeune area, and recommends only donating funds or goods through legitimate means, such as the USO, Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society, or other registered charitable organizations. Additionally, for those Marines reporting to the School, the only endorsed means of arriving to the School once they arrive in the local vicinity are via registered taxi services (local taxis, rideshare, Uber or Lyft), or by family members. For questions concerning transportation, Marines should call the point of contact listed on their orders. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact Captain Zachary R. Tilley at (910) 449-2072 or zachary.tilley@usmc.mil.

Hello again from School of Infantry-East, with another update for Hurricane Irma: Due to the track and forecast of Hurricane Irma, MCI-East/MCB Camp Lejeune has declared Tropical Cyclone Condition IV, which means landfall within our geographic area can be expected within the next 72 hours. While it is still too early to determine the impact Irma may have upon SOI-E, it is highly recommended that the Lejeune military community be very alert for dangerous weather conditions over the weekend and into next week. The MCB Camp Lejeune staff is continually evaluating and monitoring the weather forecast and is passing updates concerning base-wide preparations as they become available. All SOI-E commands, tenants, and community members are strongly advised to: Police your area; take in anything that could be picked up by strong winds or could block a storm drain. Ensure all windows and doors are properly secured. Ensure all motor transport lots, driveways, storage lots, and yards are inspected for debris and rendered as weather safe as possible. Take appropriate precautions for flooding; move vehicles and containers in low-lying areas to higher ground; ensure storm drains are not blocked, and protect lodging. Individuals and families should inventory emergency supply kits. Ensure you have a ready supply of no-cook shelf-stable food, drinking water, baby supplies, and prescription medication. Weatherproof and safeguard vital documents. Do not forget preparations for pets and valuable items! If you decide to leave the area, choose your route carefully. Leave early, and ensure that your command and neighbors know where you are going and have a reliable means of contacting you. Monitor the National Weather Service and National Hurricane Center forecasts and adhere to the advice and guidance they offer. As always, in case of emergency, do not hesitate to call 911. The safety of our Marines, Sailors, and families is our highest priority!

Hello students, families, and permanent personnel of School of Infantry-East!! As Hurricane Irma is bearing down on the Southeastern United States, please see below for information concerning hurricane updates, what we at SOI-E are doing to ensure the safety and well-being of our Marines and Sailors, and coordinating instructions for incoming students. Students and Permanent Personnel: The SOI-E staff is closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Irma and is preparing appropriate actions dependent on storm landfall location and strength. Parents and families can rest well-assured that we are ready and able to safeguard the Marines under our care and enable permanent personnel to take care of their families during this time. Incoming Students: If you cannot arrive to SOI-E by your check-in date due to weather conditions or travel cancellations, call the SOI-E Officer of the Day at (910) 449-0179, the Mike Company Staff Duty Officer at (910) 449-0235, or the Recruiter Liaison, Master Sergeant Foster, at (804) 205-0501 to report your status.
