Thank you GreenTree for donating soil to The Commons planters. Greentree uses coconut coir instead of peat because of its superior water-holding and wettability. Coir is a sustainable resource while peat is extracted from peatlands, destroying an important carbon store and natural habitat. GreenTree soils are: Handmade in Ithaca, N.Y., created in small batches, biologically activated (its aerated composting system encourages beneficial bacteria to flourish).

Friday, Oct. 6 kicks off American Craft Week (Oct. 6-15) all over the United States. Here in #downtownithaca, American Crafts will be donating 15% of ALL sales in the store on OCt. 13, 14th and 15th! Stop in and check it out. #shoplocal #supportamericancrafters
Dress up in costume and join in the fun! The parade will start from the Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) at 3:00pm and makes its way onto the Ithaca Commons. Tick-or-Treating and Halloween festivities will run 4:00 - 6:00PM. Stores participating in the festivities will have a "Trick-or-Treat" sign prominently displayed in their storefront window indicating that the store is greeting trick-or-treaters. Stores participating are located on the Commons, Aurora Street, Cayuga Street and inside Dewitt Mall. Enjoy music, free facepainting, games, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks inside Center Ithaca from 4:00 - 6:00PM. Schedule 3:00 pm – Community Halloween Parade Starting point: GIAC | End point: Ithaca Commons 4:00 - 6:00 pm – Downtown Ithaca Trick-or-Treating Areas include: Ithaca Commons, DeWitt Mall, Cayuga Street, Aurora Street 4:00 - 6:00 pm – Center Ithaca Halloween Festivities (171 East State Street on the Commons)
