Description
Our Name:
-Siam changed its name to Thailand as the people of Siam found this name very meaningful because as of 24 June 1939 Siam was the only entirely free nation in South East Asia. In the Thai language “Thai” means “Free”. Siam is also the first word in our sister restaurant’s name.
-Imperial means of a commanding quality, manner, aspect, and relates to an Emperor or Supreme ruler. Thailand is a Constitutional Monarchy whereby the Prime Minister is the head of the government and a hereditary monarch (The King) is head of the State. And Imperial Beach is the location of our restaurant.
Our Team:
-Owner, Jirawat “Paul” Kateloy took over his first restaurant, Siam Elephant in Carpinteria, CA in 2009. With the quality of food and exceptional service, Siam Elephant has grown rapidly and become one of the top restaurants in the Santa Barbara area.
-Co-Owner, Winit “Win” Jongrak ran a successful restaurant in the UK and then worked at the Marriott Resort and Spa in Thailand where he met our Head Chef.
-Co-Owner, Arunkorn “Kate” Harrell is a military spouse who moved to San Diego in 2015 and quickly fell in love with the area. Owning a restaurant has always been her dream.
-Head Chef, Boonma “Tum” Intaraksa won several awards in Thailand for his fusion cooking but jumped at the idea of taking his culinary talent to an international audience.
