facebook.comThanks to the Hatcher Agency for having a great party. It was early, but we were still able to play the piano and sing, and the group looked beautiful!
Remember this...at the corner of Gulpha Gorge and Park Avenue?? Thanks to the beautiful and talented Sheila Roscoe, whose dad brought us the Tower Club, for the club's menu. I hope she is not embarrassed by me posting a link to her story. Nevertheless, she is still a gem that came out of the diamond city known as Hot Springs, Arkansas. We love you, Roscoe. https://www.si.com/vault/1989/02/07/119357/no-prima-donna-modest-sheila-roscoe-still-doesnt-understand-how-she-ever-got-to-be-a-model

Today we start the week by highlighting the Southern Club, now Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum! This is one of the oldest buildings downtown at 250 Central Ave. At one time, this was the top gambling club in the state. According to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas website, the club was constructed and opened in 1893. In the 20's and 30's Al Capone favored the Southern Club. His room at The Arlington overlooked the building! Throughout the years, the club had several people running the business, including local gangster Owney Madden. In the 1950s the city's first escalator was installed, and has been in constant operation since then. The Wax Museum business also houses The Gambling Museum, which preserves the history of this wonderful building.
Introducing some of the museum crew! Pictured from left to right: Bobby J, Jennie, our director Robert Raines, and Amber. We provided entertainment for a large group yesterday, and had a great time doing it! Have a great weekend.
