First Baptist Church WEE School in Hopewell, VA is a half-day Christian preschool program for three- and four-year-old children in the tri-city area. Our curriculum follows the WEE (Weekday Early Education) Learn Curriculum Guide for Preschoolers.  It is a developmentally-based program that addresses the four main domains essential in educating young children:
                        1. Cognitive Domain
                        2. Language Domain
                        3. Physical Domain
                        4. Social/Emotional Domain

Extensive research has shown that young children learn best through hands-on activities and, believe it or not, through play. Using this approach, along with the added Christian element, our WEE Schoolers learn kindergarten readiness skills that set them up for success as they enter elementary school. Through art, music, physical activity (large and small motor skills), manipulatives, books and whole language activities, centers, small and large group activities, cooking, science experiments and other observations (seasons; changes in nature; animals, gardens; seeds; metamorphosis; magnets), math activities (Comparing/contrasting numbers and sizes; one-to-one correspondence; measuring; patterns; sorting; shapes: number recognition), community/social and self-awareness, and sensory activities, etc., WEE School provides the essential components for a developmentally age-appropriate preschool education. In fact, a large number of area educators have chosen WEE School for their children's preschool , with many of them being kindergarten teachers themselves!

*Fathers' Pumpkin Party in October:
*Classroom Halloween party
*Thanksgiving Feast in November
*Classroom Christmas party with the four-year old children presenting a Nativity play
*Grandparents' Porridge Breakfast in January
*WEE School Sunday - where all the WEE families are invited to the Sunday church service which is dedicated to WEE School                                 *Classroom Valentine's Day party
*Easter Egg Hunt and Classroom party
*Spring Program - The children present a "show" in the Sanctuary and afterwards everyone proceeds to a big reception and an art show of the children's work.
*Mother's Day Luncheon in May
