If you are looking for a summer job with flexible hours in the great outdoors, then apply to become a state worker at one of Michigan's state parks, harbors or boating access sites.

More than 1,200 workers will be hired this summer to work at Michigan's many state parks, recreation areas, state forest campgrounds, boating access sites and harbors. Part-time and full-time employment is available, with an opportunity to work up to 1,040 hours during the summer season.

These are great jobs for college students looking to earn tuition money, individuals who are looking to re-enter the workforce and seniors or retirees looking to be more active during the warmer months.

Job responsibilities may include handling permit sales in a contact booth, registering camps, clerical work, trail maintenance, mowing, landscaping and janitorial duties.

Seasonal employees (State Workers) are paid a minimum of $8.15/hour and may work up to 1,040 hours. Candidates should be 18 and older and be willing to work weekends and evenings.

Interested individuals must complete an Employment Application Form #PR-7123e and submit it to the park/recreation area or boating facility where they would like to work.

We know it is hot! Everyone knows it is hot. Where do people go when it is too hot to handle ??? 😮 The answer, as we all know is the Beach! So plan on the parking filling today. This being so, be prepared for traffic back-ups and the parking lot will become full periodically through the day. If this happens, for safety reasons we will temporarily turn traffic away until enough parking spots become available. Be safe and have a great day!
