Our community remains concerned regarding the issues and minor accidents that are occurring in front of Windmill Harbour. Mike Garrigan is chairing our traffic committee and is monitoring this issue very closely. Good news... Beaufort County has advised us that the project is funded and they expect to start construction around the first quarter 2018. The project is expected to take approximately 12-18 months to complete. The changes will include a protected exit from Windmill Harbour (a red light at Mariners Cover to provide gaps) and a protected U Turn just east of Jenkins Island Road for those traveling off island. The link below, provided by the County, will provide you more details about the project. http://www.bcgov.net/departments/Engineering-and-Infrastructure/traffic-engineering/highway-projects/jenkins-island-access/presentation_20170523.pdf
