Come be part of something GREAT: our kids' future. In 2001, the need for after-school care and youth development in Havre was tremendous. A variety of youth programming had been offered over the years, but nothing had stuck. To fill this gap, a member of the HELP Committee (Havre Encourages Long-range Prevention) board of directors suggested opening the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line, which they did on July 1, 2002.
The Club is now Havre's premier youth development organization, serving over 600 kids (ages 6-18) every year.  We offer programs daily in five core areas so that each youth who attends can engage in a healthy, productive activity that he or she enjoys. We also offer tutoring and homework help, and encourage all of our members to make on-time graduation a priority.  Making learning fun is a winning strategy: over 50% of our members attend the Club at least 3 days a week, so we are not just seeing  a lot of kids, we are seeing them often enough to make a significant impact on their lives.
Since opening in 2002, we have enrolled over 2,900 members, and since 2008 we have served an average of 200 kids per day - the maximum number we can safely accommodate with our current space and staff. Unfortunately, because of these space and staff restrictions, for the past five years we have had to cap our membership. We have been turning kids away every day.
In response to this problem, the Club is building a multi-purpose room which will allow us to raise our membership cap and serve 25% more kids every day.  We are also building a full service kitchen, which will allow us to greatly enhance our food service programs.  We currently rely on roasting pans and a George Forman grill to serve 3,000 meals and 33,000 snacks a year, and we have just started a new dinner program that feeds an average of 30 kids a day.

The board has also made stable funding a priority by building an endowment fund to secure the Club’s operations so that our community’s youth will always have a safe, positive place to be.

Hmmmm....the sandbox may be a little hard to dig in. Do we have any parents who would be able to help us out? We will buy the sand, but we will need some equipment to get rid of the old dirt and put in the new. If you (or someone you know) would like to help please call Tim at the Club 265-6206. Thanks!

Let us know what you think.... Part of the funding for the Boys & Girls Club comes from a 21st CCLC grant from the Department of Education. Please click on the following link and take this short survey if your child attended 15 days or more this school year. Thanks! http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3352528/Parent-Survey
