Today in 2000 the PA Turnpike launched E-ZPass regionally for passenger vehicles. Within the first year customers used E-ZPass for more than 55.6 million transactions on the PA Turnpike. 17 years later, eight out of every 10 transactions on the Turnpike are paid through an E-ZPass rather than cash.
The PA Turnpike hosted a public meeting Wednesday, Nov. 29 in Bridgeville to discuss the Southern Beltway construction project with local residents and to solicit their feedback. The meeting consisted of a presentation from turnpike representatives on what to expect and an open forum for those impacted by construction to ask questions. The PA Turnpike values teamwork to help promote safety. The PA State Police‘s Troop T along with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Penn State Health helped parents prevent any future injuries caused by their child’s car seat being installed incorrectly. On Monday parents were able to park their cars outside the PA Turnpike’s Administrative Building and have a child passenger safety (CPS) technician jump into their car to show them hands on how to keep their child safe.

Seven out of 10 car seats are installed incorrectly, and every 33 seconds, one child under the age of 13 is involved in a crash. When used properly, child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent. The PA Turnpike Commission gave thanks for all our current and former veterans have done for our nation by presenting @pawounded with a $11,000 donation. Funds were raised by PTC employees and @VietnamVeteransofAmerica Chapter #542 and were presented last week during a brief ceremony.
