You can go out and have fun, but it’s a different kind of fun that you have. I just feel very safe. I have a very safe environment of people.” She also talked about how she's trying to make a comeback but her sordid past makes that difficult because it becomes a distraction from the person she's trying to be today. Also while on the couch she did mention that she would LOVE for a Mean Girls 2 to happen. She says she visits the SNL set anytime she's in NYC. She borderline stalks Lorne Michaels whenever she sees him. She even talks to Tina Fey on the regular. (Tina is hard at work on a new Broadway musical called, you guess it, "Mean Girls".) Lindsay also talked about her relationship with Oprah and their failed partnership on a reality docu-series for Lindsay that OWN produced and was aired on said channel. She basically said her place was a mess and she was late and disorganized because she had just moved her entire life from L.A. to NYC. She was expecting it to be one cameraman and her and on the first day of shooting an entire camera crew showed up. So she was disorganized because she was feeling overwhelmed by the move. She said she wasn't the partier everyone made her out to be. (Side-eye.) Finally, when asked about her past sexual fluidity she completely denied having any sort of fluidity about her sexuality and declared her heterosexuality. Who among us didn't experiment when we were kids? What shocked me the most about this interview is Lindsay is only 31 years old. She looked good on her appearance on Wendy, but et me tell ya that's a HARD 31 years. She looks every bit of 10 years PAST her age. She looks good, but she looks every day of a good 41 years old. So for her to say she wasn't the partier everyone made her out to be back in the day, the face (and fillers) doesn't lie. It's clear Lindsay is trying to launch a comeback. She's insurable nowadays. She's showing up to work on time. She's got a nightclub in Mykonos and is about to design her own man-made island off the coast of Dubai. She has a lipstick line, she has a BBC series in the can, and she's been actively campaigning for the role of BATGIRL, a movie that will be written and directed by Joss Whedon as part of the DCEU. So clearly she's making headway. And I always love a good "comeback" story. I believe in second chances. I believe people evolve, grow and change. And I believe we should allow them time space and opportunity to do so. If Lindsay wants to comeback, she's got a lot of goodwill she'll have to build up. But it's certainly doable. So I wish her well in her endeavors to work in Hollywood again. I pray she's able to hold onto her serenity and sobriety while she makes that very difficult journey back. It started out at #2 behind Star Wars and in the past couple weeks it has taken over the #1 position. And because the wide releases next week don't look like any competition for the movies out there right now, it looks like Jumanji will hold on to the top spot next week as well. As I've said before when I saw the first trailer I wasn't impressed. But with each subsequent trailer it looked better and better. When it finally came out it got good reviews from the critics and audiences seem to love it. So good for all those involved in that project. Oscar bait, The Post took the #2 spot as it finally went into wide release. Is it wrong I'm really not into this movie? I mean with talent like Streep and Hanks and under the direction of Spielberg of COURSE it's gonna be a good movie. And yet, I have no interest in actually going to see this movie. Liam Neeson continues to play the same character over and over again. If you've seen Taken, if you've seen Non-Stop you've seen this movie. This is like both of those movies, only on a train! Liam Neeson has had a late in career resurgence via these types of movies. But I'm not interested. I haven't been interested since Taken 2. Insidious: The Last Key. Horror movie. Bad horror movie. Hard pass. The Greatest Showman. Color me surprised by this movie. It opened to soft numbers. But each week it has held on spectacularly. The soundtrack has been #1 on I-tunes for a few weeks now. And word of mouth on the film itself has made this the sleeper hit of the winter. Is it the greatest movie ever? No. But it's a good time at the movies. And not for nothing but Hugh Jackman REALLY needs this hit. His movies outside of being Wolverine in the X-MEN movies have failed to catch on with audiences. He needs to prove he's a box office draw outside of the X-MEN universe. The Greatest Showman, a role he was BORN for, seems to be the vehicle he needs to prove his box office worth. So good for him! Star Wars: The Last Jedi by all reports is flopping HARD in China. Why is this news? Because China is our biggest market outside of the US. But just because it's flopping in China doesn't mean it isn't a hit. It's a HUGE hit. It's amassed over a billion - that's billion with a B - in the international box office. Just this week it's taken over Beauty and the Beast's #10 spot in the billion dollar club. Yes there has been a LOT of controversy over the film and what its done with long time characters (as well as the horrible character development of the new ones) but that hasn't taken away from its performance. I saw it and I agree it left something to be desired. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie as a whole. But I had way more questions than answers at the end of it. Questions that I don't know will be answered in Chapter 9. A surprisingly soft number for Paddington 2 for its first weekend in theaters. WB bought it from the Weinstein Company as WC was trying to get rid of assets as it declared bankruptcy. It has that rare 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences that went to see it really loved it. Hopefully word of mouth can be as big of a boon to it as it has been for The Greatest Showman. Proud Mary: I felt this movie should have took more time to come out. I think the script needed work as well as the execution of the movie. I like that i's a low budget movie. I like low budget movies that make a TON of bank at the box office. I think if they were going to go the Blaxploitation route that it seemed they were trying for in the trailers, they should have carried that through to the movie itself.
