While on your journey to fulfill your divine destiny, Satan will always throw occasions in your pathway to become discouraged. If you yield, he will stop your progress while you spin your wheels in neutral. One key to successfully resisting discouragement is in Luke 18:1. “Jesus told them…they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up).” Maintaining a consistent prayer life keeps your relationship with God vibrant giving you strength in the face of discouragement. A strong connection to God’s supernatural help fortifies your faith creating a persistence that cannot be denied even when facing stiff opposition. GOD IS MOVED BY FAITH; NOT BY A NEED! Paul said in II Cor. 4:16 “Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear).” His attitude kept him from getting discouraged even when thrown in prison, whipped and bound in stocks. (Acts 16) Refusing to fear, he and Silas focused on the unseen realm instead of their circumstances—and they received supernatural deliverance. The devil knows how to push your little red button tempting you to look at negative circumstances. How you respond determines the outcome. You will either be spiritless, exhausted and worn out, thereby falling by the wayside, or, perfect, entire and wanting nothing! (James 1:4) (Excerpts from Pastor Charlie’s sermon 6/11/17. When the devil needs to stop the progress of a maturing Christian, he goes to his tool shed and pulls out his most formidable device: discouragement. He knows if he can get a child of God discouraged, they move to a neutral gear and they’re not going anywhere. Discouragement entertained always produces depression. In I Kings 19, after Elijah defeated Jezebel’s false prophets with a spectacular demonstration from God, interceded until a three-and-a-half year drought was broken by a deluge of rain, and outran the King’s chariot for twenty miles, we find him under a juniper tree in the wilderness praying to die after receiving death-threats from Jezebel. In the midst of his hour of discouragement, God didn’t forsake him. Elijah had a visitation from the Lord giving him strength for his journey and received a word from heaven concerning his purpose along with a fresh anointing to carry out his task. God gave Elijah the same instruction he gives to every discouraged person: ARISE! God’s not done with you yet. It’s not what happens to you that counts; it’s how you respond to it that determines how it will turn out. Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you--rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! (Isaiah 60:1 Amplified Bible) (Excerpts from Pastor Charlie’s sermon 6/4/17. Walking by faith isn’t always as easy as a walk in the park. Jude said in verse three that we should earnestly contend for the faith. That means there will be times we have to fight for it like we were fighting to win a prize. Jesus told us storms would come. And though the winds howl and the flood rises, a group of people will walk on in victory, unshaken. But, sadly, there will be those who collapse under the pressure of the storm. The difference is in their foundations. People who cannot be shaken are those who have a revelation of the word of God and are doers of it. Those that cave in when the storm hits only hear the word but never do what it says. Because faith comes from God’s word, contending for the faith means to hang onto the Word and keep on believing no matter what comes. When the storm passes, it will be well worth the fight. "But the seed in the good earth--these are the good-hearts who seize the Word and hold on no matter what, sticking with it until there's a harvest.” (Luke 8:15 Message Bible) “So friends, when life gets really difficult, don't jump to the conclusion that God isn't on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.” (I Peter 4:12 & 13 Message Bible) (Excerpts from Pastor Charlie’s sermon 5/28/17. The tragedy in life is not when a man dies, but what dies in a man while he lives! Every person is designed by God for a purpose, but many never accomplish the purpose for which they were born for various reasons. One of the main reasons is not letting go of the past. The apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:13 & 14 “…but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” When you hang on to the hurts, offense, griefs and heartbreaks of the past, you abort your future. In Genesis 37, Joseph had a dream about his destiny. It seemed far-fetched that it would ever come to pass, but in spite of rejection and betrayal by his brothers, false accusations, prison, and lack of support by others, there came a day when his dream came to pass. After he was made second in command in Egypt, he named his first child, Manasseh, meaning: God, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house. And he named his second child Ephraim, meaning: God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. (Genesis 41:51&52) Joseph forgave the injustices in his past and as a result God gave him double prosperity. (Excerpts from Pastor Charlie’s sermon 5/21/17. Not all testing is bad! Only the testing that comes from Satan is meant to destroy you. When God proves you, his intent is to do you good in the latter end and promote you. The devil is the one who tests with sickness, disease and calamity; God proves through obedience. (Deu. 8:2) A welder puts pressure on the inside of a newly welded pipe to locate any weakness or leaks. The pressure does not cause a hole in the pipe; it just reveals its imperfections. God’s testing exposes any unbelief in your life and sometimes forces you to grow in your ability to trust him. Gold that goes through the purifying process increases in value. So when you are tested, keep on trusting God. What was meant for evil from Satan, God will turn it around for your good. There is unimaginable glory on the other side. Friends, when life gets really difficult, don't jump to the conclusion that God isn't on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner. A horse in church is not the norm now-a-days. However, once a year on pioneer Sunday, Victory Center welcomes Dakota, ridden by our guest speaker, Ray Perryman. Ray sang then ministered from I Samuel 16 where God confronted Samuel with the question, “How long are you going to mourn for Saul?” Many who have had challenges in life spend the rest of their lives mourning over what might have been. They refuse to push past the hurt and move forward because it takes effort; as a result, they miss their destiny. YOUR IDENTITY AND DESTINY WILL NEVER BE FOUND IN YOUR COMFORT ZONE! YOUR IDENTITY IS FOUND WHERE GOD IS CALLING YOU! (Excerpts from Ray Perryman’s message, 5/7/17. For the complete sermon go to victorycenter.org, click on resources then archived date.)

**UPDATED POST SUNDAY, APRIL 30 Sunday, the weather outside was frightful, but inside at Victory Center, neither wind, nor rain nor the fury of a raging blizzard could stop the word from going forth. Pastor Charlie reminded us, “What you think on is what you will believe, what you believe determines what you say, and what you say becomes what you ultimately will do.” An un-renewed mind is always in opposition to God, but a mind renewed to the Word of God is life and peace. God is not going to do anything with your mind or your thoughts; that’s your responsibility. When you were born again, your spirit was recreated…but, unfortunately, the spirit of your mind has to be transformed too. Much like a worm encased in a cocoon turns into a beautiful butterfly; it is a process. To have the mind of Christ, you must continually be in the process of engrafting the word into your soul. James 1:21 Eph 4:23 And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], Rom 12:2 (Message Bible) Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. The mind is the last stronghold of rebellion. Satan tries to control your mind by sending toxic thoughts because he knows thoughts lead to actions. You can’t keep Satan from sending negative thoughts your way, but you don’t have to take his bait by making his thoughts your thoughts. Matthew 6:31 Says, “Therefore take no thought, saying…” You take a thought when you repeat it or meditate on it. When you keep speaking negative thoughts, you build a mountain out of a molehill. You can’t keep the birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from building a nest in your hair. When God controls your thoughts, your mind is full of life and peace. Isaiah 26:3 You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.

Jesus did far more than just forgive your sins when he died on the cross. According to Isaiah 53:11, (Amplified Bible) he not only bore your iniquities, but also your guilt along with its consequences. Consequences means: the results of ones actions indicating an unfavorable outcome. Those consequences include shame, remorse, inferiority, and unworthiness. Jesus came to wipe away those consequences. You cannot find your future looking at your past; you cannot let your past determine or define your future! People and the devil may try to keep you in the box of your past, but Jesus rolled the stone away. You are free to come out of your box, experience your own resurrection, and enjoy a brand new life! We understand the worlds were framed by the word of God. (Hebrews 11:3) Framed means to restore, repair, put in order or to make whole. It may be easy to believe that God spoke words so powerful they resulted in the restoration of a planet…but what about the chaos in our individual world? Jesus indicated in Mark 11:23, not only worlds could be framed by words but mountains removed as well—not just when God speaks but when we speak and not doubt in our hearts. When Jesus said if we believe the things we saith will come to pass and doubt not, that word “saith” means “lego” which means a systematic discourse. If you have been around children, you know what a lego is. With a pile of legos, you can build any number of things, trucks, castles, animals, etc.—if you have a blueprint. God gave us a blueprint for our lives through his Word. When we speak his word systematically, we can frame our world, or in other words repair and restore it to wholeness. You can’t talk about adversity all the time if you want deliverance. (Excerpts from Pastor Charlie’s sermon, 4/9/17.
