CAN THIS YEAR’S CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE REACH NORMAN ROCKWELL STATUS? If we do, it will be partly because of the “picturesque” image you’ll see the downtown area of Guymon transformed into. If we do, it will be partly because of the festive lights, a full range of activities including carriage rides, a fun night out for the kids because of the YMCA. If we do, it will be partly because Santa will arrive, along with six secret elves, sharing festive ways to save while you shop. One of the features of a Norman Rockwell Christmas celebration is a painting. Which brings us to this thought: Christmas Open House 2017 in and around downtown Guymon is centered around Art, and Creativeness, and Hometown look and feel. It’s exactly what merchants have been working towards since the inception of the event. People walking the streets, visiting. Partaking in refreshments prepared by the hands of the merchants. It starts with purpose and it culminates with lots of townsfolk’s participation. All Fired Up gallery, with some pretty special merchants have made ready for this night, hoping to find the streets full of townsfolk from Guymon and the outlying area. The event is free, open to the public, 5 to 9 pm Friday December 8th and is sponsored in part by the City of Guymon.
SANTA RETURNS TO ZAK'S CHEESE DURING CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE, DECEMBER 8TH IN DOWNTOWN GUYMON They still say: “Merry Christmas” in downtown Guymon at Zak’s Cheese. As Santa returns for photo ops with kids during Christmas Open House, this year marks something new. Santa’s got six “secret” elves to arrive from the North Pole, all the way to Guymon. Their mission: to save shoppers money! They’ll also spread good cheer to make Christmas Open House an attractive “date night.’ The Junior Chamber of Commerce is stepping up this year during Christmas Open House, as Elves, with help from Jada Breeden and Guymon Chamber of Commerce. They’ll be “whispering” and handing out special booklets from their Santa’s helper red velvet bags. Treats- like lots of local promotionals will be delivered by the Evles on the streets of Guymon during Christmas Open House. As in years past, merchants are making festive with Christmas lights, refreshments and special Christmas cheer. Returning this year to Christmas Open House is the Santa Fe Carriage Company. Any sales receipt from any Guymon business can be shown to merchants in exchange for a free ticket to ride all night long. Carriage routes will be posted online at allfiredupok.com. Carriage stop locations will have distinctive markers. All rides will be free, with any sales receipt, and riders should be 18 and older, or minimum one adult per child under 18. The event is a retail based night out, a date night, a shopping night, and just a festive night with refreshments and special offers. The event is free, open to the public, 5 to 9 pm Friday December 8th and is sponsored in part by the City of Guymon.
