Description
For much more detailed information, visit www.mainewildlifepark.com Looking for Maine Wildlife? Over 30 species of native Maine wildlife are on exhibit here at the park in natural settings. Most of our animals cannot be released back into the wild due to permanent injuries, habituation to humans, or were born in captivity. The park is open daily from mid April through Nov. 11. Hope to see you in 2011.

facebook.comThe bald and golden eagles are the only birds that stay in their wildlife park exhibits year-round. All other birds are moved into large unheated 'stalls' in the former pheasant brooder barns 'out back'. The adjacent eagle exhibits are well-protected and have a nice southern exposure.
Happy Holidays from all of us at the Maine Wildlife Park. Thanks for a great 2017 season and we look forward to seeing you in 2018.
The beaver has been moved to an unheated barn stall, where she can go in and outside, for winter; her cold weather quarters are smaller but she gets a lot more attention from the staff!
Someone asked if we had pictures of the caribou that were at the wildlife park (then game farm) from about 1963-1970. Here are some from that era. These animals were a part of the original attempt to reintroduce caribou to the Baxter Park region of the state; a project that was ultimately unsuccessful. (as was the 2nd attempt in the early 1990s) Keeping these animals in captivity was an unknown science, so unfortunately, all that hadn't been released had passed away by 1970-71.

Wow we are really lucky that George wasn't clobbered by falling trees or the gray foxes didn't escape with trees down on their fence. MWP staff and volunteers did an amazing job cleaning up the park - literally dozens of dump truck runs full of broken pine limbs. hoping to get power back soon but meanwhile the park is open for business......
The wildlife park will reopen Thursday, November 2 at 9:30am. We still do not have power, but the grounds are cleaned up, the restrooms will be functional and the animals would love to see you! Remember, the park will stay open through Sunday, November 12th this year! All Nature Store merchandise is discounted 25% from now 'til closing! Get your holiday shopping done early!!
PLEASE NOTE: the park is closed until further notice due to storm damage and downed power lines! We will let you know as soon as we are operational again!
