Late last year, the Southwest Condor Working Group released its review of the California Condor Recovery Program in northern Arizona and southern Utah from 2012 - 2016. 2016 was the twentieth year of Southwestern condor reintroduction and management. According to the Executive Summary, by the end of 2016, there were 79 condors in the southwestern population. The report concludes that the most significant issue raised, exposure to lead contamination, continues to be the chief impediment to recovery. Want more details? The full report is here: https://www.fws.gov/southwest/es/arizona/Documents/SpeciesDocs/CA_Condor/Fourth%205yr%20review%20final.pdf Thanks to working group member The Peregrine Fund for the image below!
