We turn to look over our shoulders as we drive, bike, or walk. We turn to look at something that we don't see coming ahead of time. We turn to greet friends, or to respond to children or questions when we are in the middle of something else. We turn and twist in yoga and other physical activities. Turning is a basic functional movement that we use throughout our daily lives. If we aren’t aware of what we are doing, we can tweak a neck muscle or cause a cramp in our back. But if we develop more awareness of what we are doing, it can be pleasurable and easy! In this workshop, we will explore turning while standing and sitting, the involvement of pelvis, spine, neck, feet and even the eyes - all into turning. This workshop is appropriate for people new to Awareness Through Movement and Feldenkrais, as well as those who have been doing it for a while. Bring clothing layers (a sweater or sweatshirt) and socks. We will use blankets on the floor, not yoga mats. We will also use towels for some padding in certain exercises - I will have some, but feel free to bring a couple of your own if you prefer.
