Today we had the honor of celebrating one of our psychiatrists and former Medical Director & Chief of Psychiatry, Dr. Ralph Berry, who was presented with the 2017 Walter P. Reichert Award. This award recognizes an individual within the mental health community who has significantly contributed to the promotion, development and betterment of mental health within Warren and Washington counties. The event was sponsored by the Warren and Washington Association for Mental Health in honor of May being Mental Health Month. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Berry!

Glens Falls Hospital is proud to announce that two of our nurses were honored among the Top 25 Nurses in the Capital Region in the Albany Times Union's annual "Salute to Nurses" program. Barbara McDermott, Director, Cardiac & Critical Care Services, was named 'One of the Top 10 Nurses of the Year" and Abby Cook Walkup, Nurse Manager, Operating Room, was named a 'Nurse of the Year Finalist'. Glens Falls Hospital is delighted to recognized the fourth DAISY Award recipient this week - Kim Stein, BSN, RN, who works on 4 West! Kim was nominated by a patient for her compassion and attention to detail. This patient said that Kim was a 'total rock star' and a blessing not only to them during their care, but to the hospital as well. Congratulations Kim - keep up the great work!

The DAISY Award is an international award that recognizes nursing excellence. Glens Falls Hospital would like to congratulate Tammy Allen, RN-C, The Snuggery, for receiving a DAISY Award this week! Tammy (pictured center) was nominated by a family member of a patient she was caring for in labor. She was able to make a special connection with the patient and stayed with her even after her shift was over to help with the delivery.
