National Public Works Week, May 21-27, calls attention to the importance of public works in community life. The 2017 theme, "Public Works Connects Us," references how public works department employees are continually responsive to the needs of all community members. Public works provides clean running water; safe, sturdy roads and bridges; effective storm drains and sewers; safe building codes; public transit; livable communities with parks and green space, and sustainable public facilities.
