Could this be a skill potentially lost to new technology, like writing in cursive or writing a check? The act of caring is the important lesson embedded in the practice life lesson.

Working together with the Golden Bead materials, these boys are associating the quantities of thousands, hundreds, tens and units with a corresponding numerical representation. In an Early Childhood classroom, we call these multi-step, multiple-rug learning activities ‘Big Works’ because they require children to concentrate over a longer period of time and refine executive functioning skills critical for later academic success.
