FOOD For Lane County
is Lane County's Regional Food Bank.
www.foodforlanecounty.org
This institution is an equal opportunity provider. FOOD for Lane County (FFLC) is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit food bank dedicated to alleviating hunger by creating access to food. We accomplish this in Lane County by soliciting, collecting, rescuing, growing, preparing, and packaging food for distribution through a 153-member network of human service agencies and programs; through public awareness, education and community advocacy. FFLC is a United Way of Lane County agency, member of the Oregon Food Band Network, and a distribution partner of Feeding America, the nation's food bank. We serve the emergency food needs for a population base of 356,000 people living in the 4,720 square miles of Lane County. Our 36,000 square foot facility includes a warehouse, office, industrial kitchen, freezer and cooler space, and pickup and delivery trucks. In 2015-16, we distributed 7.8 million pounds of food.

Photo Friday! Barbara and Louise work with their neighbors to organize Extra Helping at the affordable housing site where they live. FFLC’s Extra Helping program provides a few extra groceries to help residents stretch limited resources. Because the program is organized by and for residents, it also provides opportunities for neighbors to work together to build stronger communities. For Barbara and Louise it's all about neighbors helping neighbors. #FFLCExtraHelping Cornerstone Community Housing #BuildingCommunity

Administration’s proposal would increase hunger across the land - Oregon Center for Public Policy

If this proposal passes, it will undermine support for working families who face high costs for housing and childcare, and put family’s abilities to attain self-sufficiency at risk. Please join us and the Oregon Food Bank Network in telling the Administration why SNAP is important for our community. https://tinyurl.com/SNAPrulechange #SNAP #FoodStamps #OFB #DefenseAgainstHunger

A message from our new Executive Director, Tom Mulhern I am excited and honored to take on the role of Executive Director at FOOD for Lane County. Beverlee Potter did an outstanding job during her tenure here, and the organization is in a strong and stable position as we move through this transition. FOOD for Lane County is at the heart of an amazing collaborative effort to alleviate hunger by creating access to food. We collect food from a diverse range of local and national sources – eight million pounds last year – and we distribute that food to those in need through partner agencies working in every corner of Lane County and through our own innovative programs and services. I want to assure you that we will continue to focus on our core mission of collecting and distributing food, and we will continue to develop creative ways to improve and expand our impact on hunger in our community. Thank you for supporting this remarkable organization, and for making a difference in the lives of those in our community who are struggling with hunger, poverty and food insecurity.

PHOTO FRIDAY! Our awesome Dana taught a "Healthy Cooking on a Budget" class to the job trainees. They learned about nutrition basics, how to buy healthy food in a way that doesn't break the bank (Store brands! Bulk! In-season! Frozen veggies! More!) while getting hands-on experience preparing and then sharing a chicken stir fry. All the trainees walked away with more knowledge, full bellies, and recipes. Thanks Dana for such great programming! #CookingMatters

Thankful Thursday! We are grateful for Summer Food Staffer Karen D who has been with us for the entire duration of FFC's involvement in the Summer Food Program. (She was a part of Summer Food for 20 years prior to FFLC's involvement!) After 40 amazing years, Karen is retiring and worked her last week with us. Thank you, Karen, for feeding thousands of kids every year! #SummerFood
