Description
Welcome to the official Facebook Page of the Borough of Elmwood Park, in Bergen County, New Jersey. Prior to 1916, the area which is now Elmwood Park was known as Dundee Lake, a section of Saddle River Township. Residents of the Dundee Lake area voted on April 18, 1916 to secede from Saddle River Township, to form the Borough of East Paterson. In 1917, residents of the Rosemont section of Saddle River Township voted to be annexed to East Paterson. In November of 1972, residents voted to change the name of the Borough to Elmwood Park. The new name became official on January 1, 1973.
As of the 2010, census there were 19,403 people, 7,089 households, and 5,075 families residing in the Borough. The population density was 7,129.8/mi² (2,757.4/km²).

Hydrant Flushing Schedule
Today is the last day to change party affiliations for the June Primary. The Borough Clerk's office will be open until 9:00p.m. to accept Declaration changes. If you are not sure what your party affiliation is you can call the Clerk's office at 201-796-1457 ext. 200.

Phone Update: We have been advised that the problem with our phone lines are not only affecting us but other verizon customers as well. We have been advised that a gas explosion in New York City wiped out a major Verizon fiber line causing phone outages. Crew are working on installing a new fiber line.

Applications for the 2017 Jr. Police Academy are now being accepted. Deadline to submit the application to the Police Department is May 17, 2017. ONLY 2017 applications will be accepted, if you have an old application please discard and print out the following nine page application. Any questions can be directed to Detective Chris Liptak at 201-796-0700 ext. 118. Applications can also be printed from the Borough's website at http://www.elmwoodparknj.us/downloads/category/35-police-department
