Congratulations to Susan B Allen Memorial Hospital for being our May Friend of the Y! Susan B Allen Memorial Hospital has helped to build a stronger community and allowed everyone to reach their full potential through many different programs. They have partnered with the Y for various wellness programs that have enhanced wellness. This started with the teachers in El Dorado through the EWOW programs at no cost to the participants. They also developed wellness programs for employees from SBAMH, Butler Community College, USD 490, the City of El Dorado, the City of Augusta, and USD 402. They also offer the opportunity for their own employees to workout at a discounted rate due to the corporate membership with the YMCA. However, one of the most impactful and most recent projects was targeted toward the youth in our community through their partnership the EWOW Middle School After School Program at the YMCA. This is a program that has allowed over 80 middle school students increase wellness, find a place of belonging, and be provided a safe place to go after school. They have learned how to cook healthy meals, been exposed to programs like martial arts, got to experience exploration place, and even complete their first 5k race. This all could not have been possible without the collaboration with SBAMH and their eagerness to work with other organizations in the community so everyone can reach their full potential. Please join us in congratulating such an impactful organization.
