Loving Day Celebration: Sunday, June 11, 2017 City Hall Civic Plaza on Manila Avenue Noon—3:00 p.m. Racial Equality, Marriage Equality, Human Equality Celebrating 50 Years of Loving! On Sunday, June 11, join your friends and neighbors at the 2nd annual El Cerrito Loving Day Celebration at City Hall. Loving Day honors the anniversary of the US Supreme Court decision Loving v Virginia, the case that overturned the ban on interracial marriage. This year marks the 50th anniversary of that landmark decision. On Loving Day we celebrate multiculturalism, tolerance, and diversity in our community! This FREE event will have activities for the whole family, including music, arts and crafts, a display of The Loving Quilt, and a free screening of the documentary "The Loving Story" (http://imdb.to/2qztzdK). The City of El Cerrito Human Relations Commission is hosting a FREE screening of the film "Loving" at Rialto Cinemas Cerrito on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Doors will open approximately 15 minutes before the film starts. The feature film "Loving" stars Ruth Negga, Joel Edgerton, and Will Dalton, and tells the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, a couple whose arrest for interracial marriage in 1960s Virginia began a legal battle that would end with the Supreme Court's historic 1967 decision.
