Upstate Law Group, LLC is hosting a blood drive (Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10-2, rain or shine, in Easley) in honor of the students and teachers at Townville Elementary and the first responders. One of our process servers at ULG has a daughter who is a student there. That's why we are hosting this event. We need donors. If you sign up (and come donate), we will draft you a *FREE* Healthcare Power of Attorney on the spot. (~$175.00 value). We would like to congratulate our own Managing Partner, Candy M. Kern-Fuller, on being the recipient of the G. Dewey Oxner, Jr. Mentor of the Year Award! This prestigious award from the Supreme Court of South Carolina Chief Justice’s Commission on the Profession is given to the Supreme Court’s Lawyer Mentoring Program's outstanding members that go beyond the call of duty to provide support, advice and assistance to new lawyers, all while maintaining the highest standards of civility, professionalism, and integrity. The program from the ceremony honoring the recipients had the following to say regarding Mrs. Kern-Fuller: “Candy M. Kern-Fuller co-founded her law practice, Upstate Law Group, LLC, in 2008. Candy has demonstrated steadfast commitment to the Lawyer Mentoring Program, mentoring four new lawyers during the past five years. She provided each mentee with abundant support and personal guidance while stressing the importance of professionalism and ethical conduct in the courtroom, with other counsel, and with clients. She was an exemplary mentor because she put into practice those invaluable lessons which she taught her mentees. Candy’s numerous leadership roles in her community also speak volumes about her character and her laudable commitment to service. Candy’s passion for mentoring, her genuine care, concern, and dedication to her mentees, and her tireless service to the Lawyer Mentoring Program make her an outstanding mentor and tremendous asset to the Bar.” The awards ceremony was held on Friday, January 23, 2016 in Charleston, SC. The award was presented to Mrs. Kern-Fuller by Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, Costa M. Pleicones. On behalf of the staff of Upstate Law Group, LLC, we are very proud of Mrs. Kern-Fuller and can truly testify that she deserves this honor!
