Visit Dockery Farms and see how little has changed since 1950 when this photo was taken. We no longer have tractors parked by the watering trough, but most of the buildings have been carefully maintained and restored. We're committed to preserving this special place where early bluesmen like Charley Patton and Howlin' Wolf lived and played.

The last time this pump was used at Dockery gas cost a whopping 16 9/10 per gallon. Come visit and see the restored service station as well as the other historic buildings on the property. You'll definitely feel as if you've stepped back in time, but too bad you can't fill up before you leave!

It was our pleasure to have Josephine and Craig of Travels with Rigby (along with their Border Collie Eleanor Rigby) here last week as part of their crisscrossing the Delta journey. After the tour they had this to say on their blog, "...really came to appreciate why this spot was where first generation bluesmen like Charley Patton birthed a new music form."
Tedeschi Trucks Band
They nailed the description of Derek's solo; it's hair-raising all right! We were honored to have them perform at Dockery last year, and we wish them much success with this new album and tour.

We made new friends at Dockery today as we welcomed a film crew from Germany. Europeans have long been fascinated with the blues, and what better spot for them to gather footage than where it all began!
A Personal Video Tour of Dockery Farms | Dockery Farms Foundation
Bill Lester, executive director of the Dockery Farms Foundation, and his wife Tennie found this old coffee pot on the other side of the Sunflower River where a frolicking house once stood. There's no telling how many bluesmen woke up to coffee made in it. If you're not familiar with a frolicking house, watch the film to see Bill's fascinating description. http://po.st/Z9U7d1

We were so fortunate to have Mavis Staples visit Dockery yesterday before her concert tonight at Bologna Performing Arts Center. She remembers coming here as a child with her father, Pops Staples, who lived at Dockery in his youth and told interviewers that hearing Charley Patton–who also lived here–inspired him to play guitar. Here's her beautiful version of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." https://itun.es/us/IRLob?i=20601552

Dockery Farms: Rosanne Cash
There's something really special about Rosanne Cash's description of the Mississippi Delta and how it influences her music. See a clip from her concert at Dockery Farms here.
