Recently, we have been seeing multiple Solitary Sandpipers at Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve! They won't be here long because they are actually just migrating through Indiana. But they seem to really like the wetland next to the Pavilion Parking Lot and this is probably because it has had management recently including a burn and removing 50% of the willows so far. Solitary Sandpipers also favor wooded areas near a creek, so our Preserve has exactly that! Bring your binoculars and look for these small wetland birds! A professional photo is attached to show what a Solitary Sandpiper looks like and also because they are very difficult to get a good photo of at Coffee Creek!

Highlights from today's prescribed burn. A great mix of staff, volunteers, and highly trained professionals. Following an 8 year absence of prescribed fire, the Coffee Creek team was excited to once again use fire as part of the management of the 157-acre nature preserve.
