Ericson Public Library

May 1, 2017 Dear Library Friend, We are reaching out to the community to ask for your support. As you may be aware, the Library’s budget will see a 10% decrease in the upcoming fiscal year. This will severely impact library services and resources. We believe investing in libraries is investing in the citizens in the community, so we’re working diligently to find ways to keep Ericson Public Library thriving. Libraries need to be fully and adequately funded. They are a basic city service, creating opportunity and availability to all in our community. Libraries provide access to resources through an infrastructure that returns far more than the sum of its parts. When investments for the future are discussed and budgeted, libraries should not be put at the bottom of the list - or worse, off the list. No longer just rows of books filed by the Dewey Decimal System, we serve all ages and demographic groups, and our library is multi-faceted, engaging and fun. We are a resource that no one else in the community can offer. Fareway Stores Inc. recognizes the importance of libraries and has offered a way to help supplement our materials budget. Fareway has earned a reputation for being an asset to their communities, helping out their neighbors and local businesses. They are proud to support our library through a matching-fund grant. Fareway will match up to $10,000 in donations that we receive through this Library Challenge Campaign. The Ericson Public Library is fortunate to have supporters like you. Because we know you value the library and the services it provides to our community, please consider making a donation (by cash or check) to the Friends of Ericson Public Library to supplement our materials budget. Our materials budget is what provides new books, audiobooks, videos, music, puppets, ebooks, kits and much more. Without your help, our materials budget will substantially decrease, with fewer materials available. We kindly request you give generously so that the Library can take full advantage of the matching pledge provided by Fareway and continue to offer all the new resources you have come to rely and depend on. Donations are always welcome, but to qualify for the matching funds your donation must be received no later than May 31, 2017. Our goal is to meet or exceed the $10,000 that Fareway has offered to match and to use these funds to supplement the materials budget. Your contribution will help us maintain the wonderful library resources Boone depends on. Thank you in advance for your generosity and your continued support. Best regards, Jamie Williams Susan Posch Di Patrick Library Director Library Board Pres. Friends Board Pres.
