The Blues return to Columbia & Montour Counties on the 17th, 18th, and 19th of February, 2017! On the 17th, 18th, and 19th of February of 2017, Columbia and Montour Counties will again heat up with the 4th annual Destination Blues Music Festival, “your winter blues heaven on Route 11.”  Brought to you by the Exchange, and produced by Richard Briggs of the Briggs Farm Blues Festival, "Destination Blues” features international, national, and regional blues performers at multiple venues, as well as bus transportation among the venues and participating hotels.

Headlining this year, Otis Taylor, Joanna Connor, John Nemeth, and Lea Gilmore!  Also appearing, Swampcandy, Gabe Stillman & The Billtown Giants, and MANY others.

Look at our Facebook page and our Web site for updates.

Destination Blues could not have happened without the collaboration of two of our area’s longtime blues impresarios: Richard Briggs of the Briggs Farm Blues Festival and Bonnie Tallman of the Billtown Blues Association. Destination Blues has received significant financial support from Montour and Columbia Counties’ Tourism Funds as administered by the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau.  The Exchange thanks the Montour and Columbia County Commissioners for their vision and enthusiasm.

Our sponsors include Columbia and Montour Counties; the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau and the Susquehanna River Arts for Sunday Gospel; First Columbia Bank as the Young Artist sponsor; Twin Bridges Storage; and Service 1st Federal Credit Union.

John Sweeney and Dan Bashore will perform acoustic blues at Lewisburg Live! at Barnes and Noble Bookstore, 400 Market Street, Lewisburg, 6:30 to 8:30 pm, on Saturday, May 13, 2017. No cover charge. Dan, a great guitarist and vocalist, will combine forces with John’s guitar, harmonica, and vocals for this special show. Some of you know Dan from his great duo with Jim Gearhart, known as Jim Dandy. This special event, an all-over-town music party, happens because of the Lewisburg Arts Council as part of Lewisburg’s 47th Annual Celebration of the Arts! Eight venues will host free music that night, and besides John and Dan, you can catch music by Gabe Stillman and the Billtown Giants, DePotorLand, the Little Paris Jazz Trio, Greg Burgess and Bev Conrad, Mark Tomeo, Billy Kelly and a Band, and the Doug McMinn Blues Band! Among the supporters of our "Backstage Pass to the Blues" programs, this week we would like to thank the Magee Foundation, administered by descendants of Harry L. Magee, the visionary who owned and ran the Magee Carpet Company here in Bloomsburg from the 1920s until 1972. Harry's legacy here in town includes the airport and Town Park, land for both of which he helped acquire; through the Foundation, many non-profits continue to benefit from the benevolence he instilled in his children and grandchildren. Harry loved this community and he loved its people; we at The Exchange know how he felt!
