Half the Sky Foundation was founded by a small group of adoptive parents of Chinese girls determined to bring family-style love and care to the children left behind. Before there was Half the Sky, children in China who had lost their families were fed and sheltered, but not loved. Deprived of loving attention, they could not thrive. Half the Sky has worked since 1998 to make sure that every child knows her life matters to someone. Step by step, we are helping China to re-imagine its  approach to child welfare.
