Girls on the Run South Louisiana
Description
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

Throughout the 10-week Girls on the Run program girls learn Confidence, Character, Competence, Caring and Contribution. We are preparing for our fall season in Greater Baton Rouge, Acadiana, Hammond, Slidell and the Northshore- make sure YOUR girl's school is a program site. Girls face social pressures and conflicting messages about how they should act and who they should be. Studies show that by adolescence, girls' confidence drops about twice as much as boys'. The last component of the 10-week Girls on the Run program is connecting to the world at large. Each team brainstorms and completes a community impact project. We love how the GOTR team at Advantage Charter wrote notes for the faculty at school and posted them on their for a heartwarming surprise the next day!
