The campaign provides state employees the opportunity to pledge portions of their salaries to designated health and human services nonprofit organizations. Gov. John Bel Edwards touted Louisiana’s employment status in his special session remarks at UL Lafayette Tuesday. “Unemployment is at a ten-year low, and in 2017, Louisianans took home more money in their paychecks than they did in 2016. By the way, wage growth exceeded the national average, which was 2.4 percent.
