Gov. John Bel Edwards touted Louisiana’s employment status in his special session remarks at UL Lafayette Tuesday. “Unemployment is at a ten-year low, and in 2017, Louisianans took home more money in their paychecks than they did in 2016. By the way, wage growth exceeded the national average, which was 2.4 percent. In Louisiana, last year, it was 2.9 percent,” he said. “We’re well on our way to some of the most prosperous days we’ve seen in decades. But we threaten that momentum by not acting. … Just last Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics at the U.S. Department of Labor announced that employment in Louisiana hit an all-time high. More people are working in Louisiana than ever before.”– Gov. John Bel Edwards, 2018 Second Special Session Remarks, University of Louisiana at Lafayette #LWC #laworks #jobs #LWC4LA
