Austin, Minnesota is located in south central Minnesota at the junction of Interstate 90 and State Hwy 218. Please read our comment policy under the notes tab before commenting. Austin is the home of Hormel Foods Corporation; both its corporate offices and flagship plant are located here. Austin is also home to The Hormel Institute.  Founded in 1942, the Institute is currently in the process of expanding to 200 researchers from all over the world.

Founded on the old Territorial Trail, on the south banks of the Cedar River, the county seat of Mower County now stands at the junction of highways U.S. 218, which runs north and south, and Interstate 90, which runs east and west.  These provide easy access to the city from all points.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 12, 2017 7:30 AM The Sustainability Taskforce will meet in City Hall Conference Room A for a regularly scheduled bimonthly meeting. 5:15 PM The Park & Rec Board will meet at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center Interpretive Center, 1304 21st Street NE, for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
